well of course it can't...it's all on us to trust the info or not.
It's my opinion that Google great at finding things you are looking for, but when it comes to determining what is right and what is wrong, Google can't help you on this. Majority does not rule when it comes to the truth. Google being fallible, often serves up hoaxes, hoaxes that were placed there by liars, or propaganda placed there to promote idealogy. It serves up anything and everything. Filled with endless "information" much of which is biased or wrong. Much which is also right and unbiased! But that just means we need to learn how to query the Lord for the important things, so that we can know what is wrong and what is right.
So how do we?
So there is one specific set of guidelines given by an ancient prophet of God, Nephi. You must have:
It is true that many people try to pray to get answers, and they don't get any. The problem can be traced to one of items 1 through 4 above being incomplete. We can know for sure of ourselves which one(s) it is.
We must become like a little child in our faith and in our belief. Jesus taught this:
So we can take another clue from this. Jesus is teaching us what kind of person to become. He is showing us the way so we can know HOW to approach the Father in prayer. It has to be with great humility, the kind of childlike humility that a young person has such as the one depicted in the painting above. Meek, submissive, willing to submit to all things. Jesus taught that. He said:
When we pray, we should approach the Father in secret, and our Father who seeth in secret will reward us openly. We enter into our closets to pray, in private, and pour out our souls to God.
These are the words, the scriptural words that come to my mind from recollecting the many truths that we can learn from Scriptures, The words of God. Jesus said, search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life.
These are the things that we must do in order to get answers to prayers. Merely going through the motions without these other things in place is not enough. A casual attempt is not enough. The Lord has also given a sign that we may know the truth. It is the sign that the Holy Ghost will give to us, a personal experience that can not be easily shared with anyone else. This has always been an individual thing, a proof to one's own soul. Here is the procedure to know truth:
When One Falls Away from the Church of Jesus Christ, and joins another, or quits religion altogether... how does their Belief System Fundamentally Change?
PROLOGUE: I have often thought what it might feel like to fall away from the church of your upbringing. I personally don't believe I could ever do it, because I have a very firm testimony, so many proofs that God has given me over the years, but many have chosen to leave it all. I have put together my thoughts on what I think that would really mean to me, and I suppose that some people have left without thinking this all through... Maybe this blog can serve as a possibility of offering some thought that may not have been considered... and I do invite all who have left, to come back.
Joseph Smith once said, "…Before you joined this Church you stood on neutral ground. When the gospel was preached, good and evil were set before you. You could choose either or neither. There were two opposite masters inviting you to serve them. When you joined this Church you enlisted to serve God. When you did that you left the neutral ground, and you never can get back on to it. Should you forsake the Master you enlisted to serve, it will be by the instigation of the evil one, and you will follow his dictation and be his servant.
Well, not anymore? The other 41,000 Christian denominations teach:
You are only a biological product of mother earth. Sure God created you, He created the earth so He created you and everything in it... but any notion that you have a spirit within you that existed before you came to earth is not a doctrine that can be found in other Christian religions, because it is one of the plain and precious truths that can be found in the Book of Mormon (and the Bible, if you look for it). Only the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in and has a PLAN of SALVATION where we are the spiritual offspring of God.
Even though you sang I am a child of God all throughout your childhood life and believed it even when you got older, even bore testimony of it, now that you leave and forsake the doctrines revealed through the prophet Joseph Smith about this, you face the idea that you no longer had an existence before this life. You are only the biological product of a human mother and father, you don't have any eternal spirit within you, your feelings are just human emotions and you can be deceived by your feelings, etc., etc., so don't believe them, and you also have NO relation to God.
Now you possibly have decided to believe you were deceived to have ever believed that book, and now you possibly say that Joseph Smith made it all up. The gold plates? They never existed and Joseph Smith lied and there was no angel Moroni who presented the plates to him. The Urim and Thummim account presented by Joseph and Oliver Cowdery his scribe for the vast amount of the Book of Mormon, even nearly all of it, or the egg stone in a hat account presented by Martin Harris in later years, or David Whitmer and apostate from the church also in aging older years, or Emma in her elderly years, her herself an apostate from the Church as well and attending another church.
Which witnesses and testimonies to believe? Especially when they conflict. Were these accounts even complete or accurate? Much of it was never intended to be found, like a long lost snippet but now taken as a complete record if it fits a narrative.
*According to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity (CSGC) at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, there are approximately 41,000 Christian denominations and organizations in the world.
**PRIESTCRAFT: 2 Nephi 26:29 He commandeth that there shall be no priestcrafts; for, behold, priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion.
5 And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me, Nephi, saying: Thou hast beheld that if the Gentiles repent it shall be well with them;
9 And it came to pass that he said unto me: Look, and behold that great and abominable church, which is the mother of abominations, whose founder is the devil.
10 And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church, which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.
11 And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the whore of all the earth, and she sat upon many waters; and she had dominion over all the earth, among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people.
12 And it came to pass that I beheld the church of the Lamb of God, and its numbers were few, because of the wickedness and abominations of the whore who sat upon many waters; nevertheless, I beheld that the church of the Lamb, who were the saints of God, were also upon all the face of the earth; and their dominions upon the face of the earth were small, because of the wickedness of the great whore whom I saw.
13 And it came to pass that I beheld that the great mother of abominations did gather together multitudes upon the face of all the earth, among all the nations of the Gentiles, to fight against the Lamb of God.
14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with thepower of God in great glory.
1 Nephi 7:21 And it came to pass that I did frankly forgive them all that they had done, and I did exhort them that they would pray unto the Lord their God for forgiveness. And it came to pass that they did so. And after they had done praying unto the Lord we did again travel on our journey towards the tent of our father.
1 Nephi 8:37 And he did exhort them then with all the feeling of a tender parent, that they would hearken to his words, that perhaps the Lord would be merciful to them, and not cast them off; yea, my father did preach unto them.
It is a question that ALL of us have to face at one time or another in our lives. How to get answers to our prayers. How to know when it is us or the Lord. Are we just talking to ourselves, and how would we know? Many when faced with these challenging questions just give up and think its nonsense, but for those who are persistent, and bypass all of the doubt that the world encourages, they discover something. They discover the miracle, because they were patient and they waited on the Lord.
Enos 1:4 And my soul hungered; and I kneeled down before my Maker, and I cried unto him in mighty prayer and supplication for mine own soul; and all the day long did I cry unto him; yea, and when the night came I did still raise my voice high that it reached the heavens.
Of course to do this, one must be humble, childlike in faith, and believe that something is going to happen. If one knows in advance that this is the requirement God places on the experience, then they know they can't go into the effort with a doubtful heart and with cynical skepticism. If that is the case, let not that man think they will receive anything of the Lord:
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
10 And while I was thus struggling in the spirit, behold, the voice of the Lord came into my mind again
So we can see that this great event that happened to him was not an audible voice through the ears (although it could be and scriptures do have accounts of it happening this way), but it was a distinct voice of the Lord in his mind, and when this happens, one KNOWS that it is not their own making because they also feel the power of the Holy Ghost.
GO TO THE MOUNTAIN
I recall from a time in my life around 10 years ago when I was seeking answers to my prayers on a very important matter to me. I was very distraught and wanted the Lord to help me know what to do about a certain thing I had been working on, had spent years developing, even an invention. But an event happened to make me believe it was all for naught. As I prayed, I distinctly heard the Lord's voice in my mind tell me, so clearly, "go to the mountain."
Apostle David A. Bednar speaks Dec 2015
about the extreme trial of faith the ancient saints in America had when their nation's government threatened them with death unless they denied the prophecies of the birth of Jesus Christ which they claimed had passed and not be fulfilled. They were wrong, but for a time, the saints were tested with the threat of death and a deadline. 3 Nephi 1:5-9

Similar threats of death are coming to our future, for those who will not deny the Christ and God our Father. There will be a "beast" that speaks blasphemies against God, and will kill all those who will not worship the satanic image of the beast, which also speaks. With today's technology in animation, an image that speaks lying and flattering words will be created, through which this global beast of a governing body will communicate. They will also make war with anyone and threaten the saints especially, and even overcome them. Hence, the difficult times that await the saints of God. John called it the "patience of the saints."
The prophecy is that ALL on the earth, except the saints of Christ, WILL worship the satanic "beast."
pertaining to times BEFORE CHRIST was born prophets said:
10 For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God. And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.
pertaining to the MERIDIAN of TIME prophets said:
2 Nephi 1:5
5 But, said he, notwithstanding our afflictions, we have obtained a land of promise, a land which is choice above all other lands; a land which the Lord God hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheritance of my seed. Yea, the Lord hath covenanted this land unto me, and to my children forever, and also all those who should be led out of other countries by the hand of the Lord.
pertaining to times AFTER CHRIST was born prophets said:
7 And the Lord would not suffer that they should stop beyond the sea in the wilderness, but he would that they should come forth even unto the land of promise, which was choice above all other lands, which the Lord God hadpreserved for a righteous people.
8 And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them.
9 And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall beswept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity.
3 Nephi 13:6
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
1 Nephi 8:30
30 ...he saw other multitudes pressing forward; and they came and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press their way forward, continually holding fast to the rod of iron (scriptures) , until they came forth and fell down and partook of the fruit of the tree [of life].
3 Nephi 21:12
12 And my people who are a remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles, yea, in the midst of them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he go through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
3 Nephi 20:13-22
13 And then shall the remnants, which shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the earth, be gathered in from the east and from the west, and from the south and from the north; and they shall be brought to the knowledge of the Lord their God, who hath redeemed them.
14 And the Father hath commanded me that I should give unto you this land, for your inheritance.
15 And I say unto you, that if the Gentiles do not repent after the blessing which they shall receive, after they have scattered my people--
16 Then shall ye, who are a remnant of the house of Jacob, go forth among them; and ye shall be in the midst of them who shall be many; and ye shall be among them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, and as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
17 Thy hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
18 And I will gather my people together as a man gathereth his sheaves into the floor.
19 For I will make my people with whom the Father hath covenanted, yea, I will make thy horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass. And thou shalt beat in pieces many people; and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. And behold, I am he who doeth it.
20 And it shall come to pass, saith the Father, that the sword of my justice shall hang over them at that day; and except they repent it shall fall upon them, saith the Father, yea, even upon all the nations of the Gentiles.
21 And it shall come to pass that I will establish mypeople, O house of Israel.
22 And behold, this people will I establish in this land, unto the fulfilling of the covenant which I made with your father Jacob; and it shall be a New Jerusalem. And the powers of heaven shall be in the midst of this people; yea, even I will be in the midst of you.
1 Nephi 4:17, 38
17 And again, I knew that the Lord had delivered Laban into my hands for this cause—that I might obtain the records according to his commandments.
38 And it came to pass that we took the plates of brass and the servant of Laban, and departed into the wilderness, and journeyed unto the tent of our father.
1 Nephi 4:6
6 And I was led by the Spirit, not knowingbeforehand the things which I should do.
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
- Alma 48:17 Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.
- Alma 46:35 And it came to pass that whomsoever of the Amalickiahites that would not enter into a covenant to support the cause of freedom, that they might maintain a free government, he caused to be put to death; and there were but few who denied the covenant of freedom.
5 And now, Zerahemnah, I command you, in the name of that all-powerful God, who has strengthened our arms that we have gained power over you, by our faith, by our religion, and by our rites of worship, and by our church, and by the sacred support which we owe to our wives and our children, by that liberty which binds us to our lands and our country; yea, and also by the maintenance of the sacred word of God, to which we owe all our happiness; and by all that is most dear unto us--
- Alma 43:54 Now Moroni, when he saw their terror, commanded his men that they should stop shedding their blood.
- 1 And it came to pass that they did stop and withdrew a pace from them. And Moroni said unto Zerahemnah: Behold, Zerahemnah, that we do not desire to be men of blood. Ye know that ye are in our hands, yet we do not desire to slay you.
- 2 Behold, we have not come out to battle against you that we might shed your blood for power; neither do we desire to bring any one to the yoke of bondage. But this is the very cause for which ye have come against us; yea, and ye are angry with us because of our religion.
6 Yea, and this is not all; I command you by all the desires which ye have for life, that ye deliver up your weapons of war unto us, and we will seek not your blood, but we will spare your lives, if ye will go your way and come not again to war against us.
Doctrine and Covenants 68:25
25 And again, inasmuch as parents have children in Zion, or in any of her stakes which are organized, that teach them not to understand the doctrine of repentance, faith in Christ the Son of the living God, and of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of the hands, when eight years old, the sin be upon the heads of the parents.
1 Nephi 7:16-21
16 And it came to pass that when I, Nephi, had spoken these words unto my brethren, they were angry with me. And it came to pass that they did lay their hands upon me, for behold, they were exceedingly wroth, and they did bind me with cords, for they sought to take away my life, that they might leave me in the wilderness to be devoured by wild beasts.
17 But it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord, saying: O Lord, according to my faith which is in thee, wilt thou deliver me from the hands of my brethren; yea, even give me strength that I may burst these bands with which I am bound.
18 And it came to pass that when I had said these words, behold, the bands were loosed from off my hands and feet, and I stood before my brethren, and I spake unto them again.
19 And it came to pass that they were angry with me again, and sought to lay hands upon me; but behold, one of the daughters of Ishmael, yea, and also her mother, and one of the sons of Ishmael, did plead with my brethren, insomuch that they did soften their hearts; and they did cease striving to take away my life.
20 And it came to pass that they were sorrowful, because of their wickedness, insomuch that they did bow down before me, and did plead with me that I would forgivethem of the thing that they had done against me.
21 And it came to pass that I did frankly forgive them all that they had done, and I did exhort them that they would pray unto the Lord their God for forgiveness. And it came to pass that they did so. And after they had done praying unto the Lord we did again travel on our journey towards the tent of our father.
1 Nephi 18:11-22
14 And on the fourth day, which we had been driven back, the tempest began to be exceedingly sore.
15 And it came to pass that we were about to be swallowed up in the depths of the sea. And after we had been driven back upon the waters for the space of four days, my brethren began to see that the judgments of God were upon them, and that they must perish save that they should repent of their iniquities; wherefore, they came unto me, and loosed the bands which were upon my wrists, and behold they had swollen exceedingly; and also mine ankles were much swollen, and great was the soreness thereof.
16 Nevertheless, I did look unto my God, and I did praise him all the day long; and I did not murmur against the Lord because of mine afflictions.
17 Now my father, Lehi, had said many things unto them, and also unto the sons of Ishmael; but, behold, they did breathe out much threatenings against anyone that should speak for me; and my parents being stricken in years, and having suffered much grief because of their children, they were brought down, yea, even upon their sick-beds....
20 And there was nothing save it were the power of God, which threatened them with destruction, could soften theirhearts; wherefore, when they saw that they were about to be swallowed up in the depths of the sea they repented of the thing which they had done, insomuch that they loosed me.
21 And it came to pass after they had loosed me, behold, I took the compass, and it did work whither I desired it. And it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord; and after I had prayed the winds did cease, and the storm did cease, and there was a great calm.
22 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did guide the ship, that we sailed again towards the promised land.
